Wendy
Kowalski - Wilmington, NC
Wendy's
work is very joyous, expressionistic, and fluid. She explores themes of
life, love, and circus - and we're sure there's a connection! Her Poppy
series, one shown here cropped, has been very popular. We also feature
her Micro-Puffs, Monkeys, and pieces you will just have to see in person!
Wendy's
newest series, "An Octopus's Garden" will be unveiled at our
September Gallery Walk on Friday, September 12th, 5 to 7pm. Come meet
the artist & see her colorful, patterned, floating, introspective
art in person!

Wendy
has been a practicing artist for over 15 years now, which is saying a
lot for a young artist! She is active in the downtown Wilmington art scene,
she has shown across North Carolina and across the United States. She
has collaborated with other artists to create children's books, art walks,
t-shirts, poetry, zines, and the great cacophany of life. Her numerous
awards, affiliations, and list of recent shows is too great to list here
but we do have a copy of her resume at the gallery!
Wendy
will be our Featured Artist at the September (Second) Friday Gallery
Walk here in Southport! Meet the artist, see additional works
& pick up a limited edition giclee print of her work! (Giclee,

Ellen Duke - Southport, NC
Jewelry Designer
Ellen
Duke handcrafts custom lampwork & sterling silver bracelets. Lampwork
is a technique artisans use to create handmade glass beads. Each design
has it's own personality & feel. From whimsical to elegant, Ellen
creates custom work that is reminiscent of bracelets where you "buy
a bead" - although these are already complete for a fraction of the
cost! Ellen lives here in Southport so she is able to add or remove beads
from the bracelets to customize their fit, too! She has also made earrings
to match bracelets on request, and she brings in necklaces & pins
from time to time. Ellen's joyous energy is infused in her work - come
see for yourself! |
Emily
Yetman - Tucson, AZ
Jewelry Designer
Emily
Yetman Designs is based in a shared industrial studio in the arts district
of Tucson, Arizona. She rolls open her large studio doors and can watch
the mountains and trains while she works. Emily's contemporary, minimal
design aesthetic makes for high impact, hand made, sterling silver jewelry.
Lantana's
features several earring designs, and an EY signature disc necklace and
disc earrings. Emily finishes the pieces with a matte patina that is distinctly
different from a polished look. Her work is also featured in the Museum
of Contemporary Art in Tucson.
Note:
Jewelry cleaning as recommended by Emily: Soak the pieces overnight or
atleast 12 hours in a solution of one teaspoon (approx.) of dish washing
liquid and about a cup of water. This will shine and clean the pieces
on a regular basis. When deeper cleaning is needed, break out an old toothbrush
and toothpaste - scrub gently for 5 to 10 minutes after a night of soaking.
Rinse & enjoy! |

Hilary Meehan is the current artist-in-residence at Lantana's Gallery.
Feel free to come in and ask for an art consultation for your home
or business. Hilary is happy to share her knowledge of many art techniques,
styles, and artist practices in order to help you feel more comfortable
with your art viewing and purchasing experience! She encourages a
non-threatening, trust what you like approach. Hilary has learned
many techniques on her own, and finally, after practicing architecture
for several years, took the plunge & got her MFA, master of fine
arts, from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Sometimes one can appreciate
an artwork better, Hilary says, when you know more about it's making!
Feel free to ask!
Hilary created
the custom glitter stars for Lantana's porch decorations as part of
the NC Fourth of July Festival in Southport. These stars will be featured
in the fall at a gallery in Charleston, NC!
Hilary Meehan
has shown her work nationally and internationally. She has created
